Visiting Royal Oriental Cattery

We love when families want to visit before bringing a kitten home. We also have a small, family-run cattery — we keep our kittens healthy by being careful about who comes through our doors.

Our Policy

Approved Buyers Only, After Deposit

In-person visits are reserved for families who have completed the Adoption Application, had a phone or video call introduction, and placed their deposit. This protects our kittens from preventable health exposure and respects our family time.

By Appointment, Single Family at a Time

All visits are scheduled in advance — typically 7-10 days notice. We see one family per visit, never overlapping. This keeps stress low for kittens and lets us spend real time with you.

When Visits Happen

Visits are usually scheduled between weeks 8 and 11 of age, after kittens have received their first vaccinations. We do not host visits in the first 6 weeks of life, when kittens are at their most vulnerable.

What to Expect at Your Visit

  • Location: 2636 Coon Club Road, Westminster, MD 21157 (Carroll County, about 45 minutes from Baltimore and 60 minutes from DC)
  • Duration: Typically 45 to 60 minutes
  • Who you meet: Aleks, Ekaterina, your reserved kitten, their littermates, and usually one or both parents
  • What you do: Hold the kitten, watch them play, ask any questions, see how we live

Biosecurity — Why We Ask

Oriental Shorthair kittens have developing immune systems. Even healthy adult cats can carry viruses that are mild in adults but dangerous to kittens. To protect them we ask all visitors to:

  • Not visit if you have been with other unfamiliar cats in the past 48 hours
  • Not visit if you have respiratory symptoms (cold, flu, COVID-19)
  • Wash hands upon arrival
  • Wear clean clothes (we have shoe covers if needed)
  • Avoid bringing other pets to the visit

Virtual Alternative

If you cannot travel to Maryland, we offer detailed video tours via FaceTime, Zoom, or WhatsApp. You see the kittens, the parents, our home, and ask everything in real time. Many out-of-state families use this option exclusively before flight nanny delivery.
